The upside is - when I had 1 processor it ran at 98% and anything else I wanted to do was sluggish at best. I would turn off AVG, definitely. Although, I'm sure that was what I did first and it made no big difference. swehuntMember Since: January 3, 2008Posts: 3637swehuntFollowForum Posts: 3637Followed by: 0Reviews: 16 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#17 Posted by swehunt (3637 posts) - 6 years, 7 months ago[QUOTE="swehunt"][QUOTE="GazaAli"] according to the latest benches, http://pseudoblog.net/dual-core/dual-core-cpu-question.html

In any case, this is what ASUS lists:http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-usThe i915 chipset doesn't support dual core processors or the 65nm processors. It's the way Windoze handles things. That said, all of the supercomputers out there use multi-CPUs to get their speed.Btw, both Intel and AMD are talking 6 cores already.

So in many cases (a few years back) wasnt huge but nowadays multi-core systems are standard. Welcome, Guest. To BOINC, one CPU = one instance of a science app running at a time. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=34697 In looking at Task Manager, my memory is pegged at 2gb normally when running LOTRO (nothing else running, only use AVG) so I am wondering...
I have the Comcast special "Downloads up to 15Mbps, uploads up to 3Mbps with PowerBoost®" of course thats depending on what my neighbors are doing. However, to get it to work properly, I had to install all the latest AMD Drivers from here http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...calResources/0,,30_182_871,00.html Specifically, these utilities/drivers: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...mdcpusetup.exe And this one: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...ties/Setup.exe And apply this hotfix... We've also had this discussion over at Chicken's site in the test user area. Does it matter more or less on Dual core vs Hyperthread vs Multi-CPU systems?
The "cpu afinity" is to be a part of the new version of BOINC but it has not been released yet. So, I've selected the seti job(s) and manually adjusted their affinity. Officially, i912 and i925 motherboards can't support dual core processors. In that case the faster core will win.

How about different CPU vendors, or even generations of CPUs from each vendor? this content BOINC does not currently modify this The operating system interrupts applications (science_apps) all the time to do stuff (respond to mouse movement, key press, internal timers, etc.).
Hope that helps. It doesnt interfere as Planetside max's out the core it wants to use so the WU gets postponed until I stop playing. Many problems are not easy to split into separate threads. Will it make the app crunch faster? Resist Herr Twitler!! http://pseudoblog.net/dual-core/dual-core-or-single-core.html I tried doing a brief search and couldn't find anything, so I apologize if there's a sticky/thread somewhere I missed.

It doesn't matter if you have 1 core or 1000 if the program only makes use of 1 thread. peereli PcWinTech Full Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Posts: 88 Karma: 1 A dual core question « on: August 26, 2011, 10:15:49 PM » If a system runs on one 2GB mouthforbathoryMember Since: August 29, 2006Posts: 2114mouthforbathoryFollowForum Posts: 2114Followed by: 0Reviews: 5 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#16 Posted by mouthforbathory (2114 posts) - 6 years, 7 months agoYou guys forget that alot of also the quad scored more fps than the fastest dual core cpu..
Have to head to work in a minute so I thought I'd pop the question here and see what ya'll have to say. On my dual-core system under windows, with only one project running, it 'runs' on both CPUs, in somewhere between a 80%-20% and a 60%-40% split between the two cores. when u go to "my computer" did it say u have 2 processors? __________________ Pro Tools 11.2 Pro Tools 10.3.9 REAPER MPTK2 ProFire 2626 Benchmark DAC1 Neumann KH 120 A Avid REGISTER Takes just a sec!
