I have tried to copy the boot files over to E: and removed C: and swapped the cables around but it still will not boot up. C: is, most likely, where Windows is installed, and Windows will not respond well at all to the drive letter being changed out from underneath it. You are now bookmarked bro. assign the disk known as E: to D:, which frees up E:. Furthermore, I can now make shortcuts in any folder on my hard drive to open any folder or file on any of the three flash drives. Jim i have an XP machine. Help!
The external hard drive has it's own power supply and I don't understand why this... all in a sudden.. Now I only have the "G" drive . solved Installed a old hard drive into my new computer ( 2 hard drives now).
I would like to do this, if the solution is within the bounds of my limited techie skills. mcstanley's solution seems to have been overlooked when the responses to this problem were summarized. Once you have done this windows will happily accept these and will not try to reassign any more. anyone had this experience..
