If the drive does not show in Disk Management and you need to recover the data then call. Please help me recover my data. I have not published my book to any other sites as I am waiting for my KDP Select to expire before I can do so. The only way to use the drive outside the enclosure is to reformat it.
I guess the reason I said that about WD drives- is it seems from reading various forums that it is a pretty common problem for them to just stop working after Thankyou John skelhorn Reply steve says: 2011-August-18 at 4:45 pm You should try removing the drive from the WD enclosure and installing it in your PC. Reply Carlton Bale says: 2011-June-09 at 10:24 pm Jay, I think what you are experiencing is a drive that is encrypted by the enclosure. Could you clarify..like there is no Lights at all… WD must be connected to power and USB at same time to get it powered Shubhendu Das February 1, 2011 10:04 pm https://community.wd.com/t/mybook-drive-wont-power-up-need-help/177152

There are no files I can access or anything. Thank you. I'm not a computer novice, but this is one headache I have not been able to solve. I have given what I think is the best solution to these problems.

I suspect and hope it is the Sata to USB connector causing the issue as it also seem to have software on the unit. https://kdp.amazon.com/community/message.jspa?messageID=577613 I hope i will find some help here. I've never encountered any issues until now. First I formatted the My Book as NTFS using a different laptop with Win XP on it.
You can hear it powers up, but nothing happends. Reply Dana says: 2011-June-03 at 2:31 pm Thanks so much for this! It's making me super anxious that I may have lost all of my images. Im sure y'all help out a lot of people. They said they used recovery software (level 2) and could not recover anything. That's the only reason I can think of.

The blue light is still on, and when I initially plug it in through USB, I hear it working (no unusual sounds/clicks).
Locate the two rubber pads on the bottom of the enclosure near the front, curved surface. Mine just not power up. But searching the internet tells me it is their software that does it.I wonder what they have done in their software to allow them to delet folder-structures of drives that are I follow the wizard steps and it says "successfully installed" but I cannot find my hard drive. -My USB drives all work and I have other hard drives on the computer
Thanks Eva Eva May 24, 2011 6:18 am Reply # Sorry - I cannot see it in my computer. I ordered the docking station and it came today. I bought a new case and dropped it in. Ask a question and give support.
I finally managed to get my computer to recognize the drive by switching the firewire port I plug into and then bought a new external drive to switch everything over to. My MyBook failed last year, and have been wondering what to do with it next, so will give this a go tonight. Reply « Older Comments Newer Comments » RSS feed for comments on this post.
